KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker Attachment is Awesome!
Not a lot of people that I have met will turn down Ice Cream; in fact, I do not know anyone that would turn down homemade Ice Cream. It just sounds good to everyone.
The KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker Attachment features the largest Ice Cream bowl capacity in the industry. It prepares up to 2 quarts of Ice Cream, Sorbet, Gelato, and other delicious frozen desserts. This attachment put an end to my memories of how to make Ice Cream. Specifically, there is No Ice and No Rock Salt involved in making Ice Cream with this device. Just freeze the mixing bowl ahead of time. This special mixing bowl has some sort of liquid inside the double walls which will provide all the cold it needs to get the job done. I must say that having rock salt handy kept us from making more Ice Cream when I was a kid because it was just not something we had at the house all the time. So, it was just not convenient to go buy Rock Salt just to make Ice Cream. Now with this beauty, you are ready in case you get cravings for the cold smooth stuff any time of day or night. There are various other KitchenAid Mixer Attachments like the KitchenAid Pasta Attachment, but these KitchenAid Mixer Attachments that can make ice cream are really a lot of fun for the whole family!
Ice Cream Flavors and Consistency
One of the things that I like about making Ice Cream at home with this Ice Cream Attachment is creating new combinations of flavors, textures, and strange ingredients. This part stays the same as the old days. Just add some chocolate chips, fruit, or whatever into the mix; and you will have a creation of your own. One of my favorite flavors is Mocha, so I add some instant coffee to mine when it is my turn to create something for myself. The consistency coming out of the KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker is much like soft serve. So if you like your frozen deserts more frozen, the batch will need to be put in the freezer for a while or it will melt fairly quickly. Probably what contributes to how quickly it seems to melt is due to the lack of chemical stabilizers and emulsifiers that many commercial Ice Cream manufacturers add to the mixture. The lack of chemicals in our homemade Ice Cream is a good thing for me, and I am sure you will agree as well.
KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker Tips and Tricks
First, this one might seem obvious; but the KitchenAid Mixing Bowl is going to need to be fully frozen before you start to prepare your frozen masterpiece. Otherwise, it is going to be a test of your patience and ability to handle disappointment. That said, you need to make sure your freezer is set to a cold enough temperature. Many people run there freezers a little on the warmer side to keep their store-bought Ice Cream a bit softer because it takes its toll on spoons and wrists trying to chisel out the Ice Cream that has turn in to a block of Ice in the Freezer.
The downside to all of this is that it could take up to 15 hours to make sure that the bowl is frozen, and the batch could take about 8 hours to fully set. But, if the soft serve is the goal; the batch set time is minimal depending on your recipe and needs. In the end, you just need to plan a bit ahead of time; so just make sure that you clean and start the freezing process over again right away, so you will always be ready to start another batch on a moment’s notice. This is the only negative that I have found for some people because they like to store the Ice Cream in the Mixing Bowl which could cause a timing issue for them when they run out of Ice Cream and want more in a hurry. So, just make sure you remove the Ice Cream from the KitchenAid Ice Cream Attachment when it is done sitting, and timing will not be an issue for you.
